Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg will deliver the keynote address at the University’s 31st annual Honors Convocation, to be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 in Oakland’s Carnegie Music Hall. Pitt Honors College senior and 2007 Rhodes Scholar Daniel E. Armanios will join the chancellor as a principal speaker.

Preliminary findings from the largest genome scan ever completed in the history of autism research were published yesterday in Nature Genetics. Pitt researchers, as part of a consortium of scientists from across the world, contributed to this landmark research endeavor through the Autism Genome Project.

Participating in running, basketball, and other high-impact sports may lead to stronger bones as people age, according to a research study led by Vonda Wright, an assistant professor in the Pitt School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
