Pitt-Bradford Library Receives Donation

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford looking in the library for more information on music now have an updated resource, thanks to a recent donation by the Friends of Hanley Library. The group donated $3,000 to the library, which was used to purchase the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. The music dictionary is a 29-volume set that covers a variety of music styles.

The set replaces the library’s previous one, which was published in 1980 and covered mostly classical music. Hanley Library donated the older music volumes to the Bradford Area Public Library.

“The Friends of Hanley Library has always been an enthusiastic and supportive part of the library’s operation,” said Trisha Morris, director of library services. “Its generous fund raising has provided the library with funds to buy items that otherwise might be outside of budget possibilities.”

Founded in 1990 to support the library, Friends also sponsors a variety of programs for Pitt-Bradford and the surrounding community.
