Pitt Program Council To Host Sex and the City AuthorMarch 24, 2003 IssueBy Patricia Lomando White Candace Bushnell, author of Sex and the City and Four Blondes, will present a Pitt Program Council lecture at 8:30 p.m. March 25 in the William Pitt Union (WPU) Assembly Room. Bushnell, whose popular bestseller Sex and the City spawned the HBO hit series starring Sarah Jessica Parker, began her writing career as an undergraduate at New York University. She covered the Studio 54 scene for Beat magazine. She then became a seasoned freelance writer for womens magazines, including Ladies Home Journal, Self, and Mademoiselle. Bushnell first put the singles scene into print as resident Sex and the City columnist for The New York Observer. Her rise to the top of New Yorks jet set and her experiences as a successful single woman provide the basis for much of her writing. Bushnells unusual research tactics included interviewing a male Calvin Klein underwear model in bed and venturing to upper-class suburbs to ask married women about their sex lives. In her latest work, Four Blondes, Bushnell gives readers another uncensored look into the mating rituals of the Manhattan elite. A native of Glastonbury, Conn., Bushnell resides in Manhattan. Advance tickets, available at the WPU ticket office, are $4 for students with valid Pitt ID and $8 for others. On March 25, ticket costs increase to $8 for students and $16 for others.
