Dancing Days Are Here Again

The University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball team Coach Ben Howland talks to media following Pitt’s crushing defeat of the University of Connecticut, 74-56, on March 15. That victory earned Pitt its first Big East Tournament championship and seeded the Panthers No. 2 in the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament—the big dance for the national title. At press time, the Panthers, at 26-4, were scheduled to play Wagner College (21-10) last Friday evening in the first round. The winner of that game played the winner of the Indiana University-Alabama University match-up on Sunday for the right to move on to the Sweet Sixteen regional semifinal in Minneapolis, scheduled for Thursday.
