Iraq Vet Visits

November 1, 2004 Issue

Pitt alumnus Jeremy Feldbusch accepted a personalized University of Pittsburgh game jersey from Head Football Coach Walt Harris and later talked with team members following the Panthers’ practice Oct. 26. Feldbusch, who was a U.S. Army Ranger when he was blinded by shrapnel in the Iraq War, wore number 42 when he played football at Derry (Pa.) Area High School. He told Pitt players that the self-discipline and work ethic he acquired from playing football are helping him to cope with his war injuries. Feldbusch graduated from Pitt in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences. Since returning from Iraq, he has traveled across the United States raising money for wounded veterans, and he has been profiled by The New York Times, NBC’s Today show and other media outlets.
