Chancellor’s Distinguished Faculty Awards AnnouncedFebruary 7, 2005 Issue
Winners of the 2005 Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching, Research, and Public Service Awards will be recognized at Pitt’s 29th annual Honors Convocation on Feb. 28.
Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award winners for 2005 are Pat K. Chew, professor of law; Kevin P. Kearns, associate professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs; James E. Seitz, associate professor of English; Mark S. Strauss, associate professor of psychology; and Linda A. Winkler, associate professor in the Titusville campus’ Division of Natural Sciences. Winners of the 2005 Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Awards in the junior scholar category are Rick Relyea, assistant professor of biological sciences, and Judith Yang, associate professor of materials science and engineering. Winners in the senior scholar category are Marcia Landy, professor of English; Malcolm R. McNeil, professor and chair in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences’ Department of Communication Science and Disorders; and Hrovje Petek, professor of physics. Chancellor’s Distinguished Public Service Award winners for 2005 are Isabel L. Beck, professor in the School of Education and senior scientist in the Learning Research and Development Center; and Sharon E.Connor, assistant professor of pharmacy. Winners of the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching and Public Service Awards each receives a $2,000 cash award and a $3,000 grant to support the faculty member’s teaching functions. Each winner of the Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award receives a $2,000 cash prize and a $3,000 grant to support the faculty member’s research.
