Herbert P. “Herb” Douglas Jr. (BS ’48, MEd ’50), second from left—former Pitt Panthers football star, three-time Amateur Athletic Union title holder in track, and bronze medalist in the long jump at the London Olympic Games of 1948—was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the New York Athletic Club (NYAC), the most prestigious athletic club in the United States.
