Free Cancer Screenings Offered

In recognition of National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Prevention and Detection Month in May, University of Pittsburgh Physicians’ Department of Dermatology and the UPMC Cancer Centers are offering free public skin cancer screenings at the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Shadyside.

The screenings will take place from 3 to 5:30 p.m. May 9 and May 16 in the Hillman Cancer Center’s outpatient services department on the 2nd floor. People will be seen on a first-arrival basis with sign-in through 5 p.m. Preregistration is not required. More than one million Americans are diagnosed each year with skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, accounting for nearly half of all cancers diagnosed in the United States. When detected early, skin cancer can be treated effectively.
