Honoring "Van"

January 9, 2006 Issue

The University’s School of Education recently hosted a luncheon honoring Albert Van Dusen (right), Pitt professor and vice chancellor emeritus, in Oakland’s Pittsburgh Athletic Association. The event celebrated Van Dusen’s 90th birthday and his long career at Pitt. It also was part of the education school’s 50th anniversary celebration of its graduate degree program in higher education management, one of the first programs in the country to prepare professional administrators—registrars, admissions directors, et al—for university careers. Pictured with Van Dusen are Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg (center) and John L. Yeager, director of the education school’s Institute for Higher Education Management.
