Celebrating Youth

February 6, 2006 Issue

Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg (above) spoke during a Feb. 1 celebration of the opening of the Pitt-produced exhibition and accompanying publication, From Colored Orphans to Youth Development: The 125-Year History of Three Rivers Youth 1880-2005. The reception, program, and exhibition tour were held in the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center. Among the other attendees were (below) Pitt Trustee William Trueheart and Nikki Nordenberg (EDU ’88 Ph.D.). Three Rivers Youth is the oldest agency in Pennsylvania founded to serve Black orphans, later evolving to serve youth and families. The exhibition will remain on view at the Heinz History Center through March 5. The Feb. 1 event kicked off Pitt's celebration of Black History Month.
