Pitt 13th Among Elite Universities Enrolling Pell Grant StudentsMay 30, 2006 IssueBy Hali Felt In an article titled “Elite Colleges Lag in Serving the Needy,” the Chronicle of Higher Education ranked Pitt 13th among the nation’s public universities with endowments of more than $500 million for its proportion of undergraduate students receiving federal Pell grants. According to data from fall 2004, 20.8 percent of Pitt students received Pell grants, which are typically given to students from families with incomes below $40,000. |
