A Feb. 11 vocal performance by members of the Afro American Music Institute Boys Choir was one highlight of Pitt’s annual K. Leroy Irvis Black History Month Program, hosted by Pitt Chancellor Patrick Gallagher. The evening in Alumni Hall also included a video tribute to legendary pianist Erroll Garner and selections of Garner’s music performed by Pitt Jazz Studies Program Director Geri Allen, drummer Victor Lewis, and Garner’s former bassist Ernest McCarty. Garner’s massive archive of letters, photos, recording contracts, music, and memorabilia is housed within Pitt’s University Library System. (Photo by Aimee Colabine Beattie/Pitt CIDDE)
