A VISITOR FROM THE WHITE HOUSE

Jocelyn Frye delivered the keynote address during a Feb. 20 conference, The Gender Wage Gap: Strategies for the Future, sponsored by Pitt’s School of Law. Frye is the newly appointed director of policy and projects for First Lady Michelle Obama and deputy assistant to President Obama for domestic policy. The daylong seminar was held in the Barco Law Building.

A FOCUS ON BUSINESS ETHICS

The annual Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award ceremony, which honors local companies that demonstrate a commitment to ethical business practices, was held Feb. 13. Winners were Handee Marts, Marc USA, and FedEx. Attending the awards ceremony at the Omni William Penn, Downtown, were (from left) John T. Delaney, dean of Pitt’s College of Business and Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business; Audrey Murrell, a Pitt professor of business administration and director of the Katz’s David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership; and keynote speaker Paul H. O’Neill, former Secretary of the U.S. Treasury and former Alcoa chair and CEO. The awards are cohosted by the David Berg Center and the Pittsburgh chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals.

ARTS STUDIO OPENS WITH LOVE

Adrienne Rozzi (far right), a Pitt junior majoring in studio arts and the history of art and architecture, creates a Valentine in the new Screenprint Studio in the Department of Studio Arts, while Lenore Thomas, Pitt assistant professor of studio arts, looks on. The department hosted the event “Love Your Studio (Arts)” on Feb. 13 to mark the opening of the studio and to showcase students’ talents in a range of media.
