PITT ARTS, the popular program that connects Pitt students, faculty, and staff with the region’s arts through discounted tickets and free facility admissions, is planning a Sept. 6 Arts Festival and an expansion of its Artful Wednesday programming.

To launch its 17th year, PITT ARTS will hold an Arts Festival from noon to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the William Pitt Union Lower Lounge. The event will feature live musical performances, a photo booth for pictures to commemorate the day, as well as tables staffed by PITT ARTS Cheap Seats and Museum Visits partners. There will also be an art exhibition in the Union’s Connie M. Kimbo Art Gallery. The free event is open to the entire Pitt community.

Pitt’s Gamelan Ensemble will play at noon; Cello Fury at 2 p.m.; the Boilermaker Jazz Band at 3:30 p.m.; and the Pitt Men’s Glee Club at 5 p.m.

PITT ARTS is also expanding its Artful Wednesdays to include the spring semester 2014. The program is offered on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in Nordy’s Place in the William Pitt Union’s Lower Level and lunch is included.  PITT ARTS sponsors 110 free student outings for Pitt undergraduates each year. The program also provides on-campus art experiences, free museum visits, and discounted cultural opportunities. PITT ARTS engages more than 50,000 Pitt students, including those who do more than one activity, each year.
