About 800 Pitt students, faculty, and staff volunteered at 37 projects around the Pittsburgh region on Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.

The day was not all work—after a morning of cleaning at Sankofa Village of Arts in Wilkinsburg, participants received the unexpected gift of lessons in African drumming and martial arts.
