Newsmaker: Planning Ahead for Sustainability
Paul T. Anastas, Yale University’s Teresa and H. John Heinz III Professor in the Practice of Chemistry for the Environment, delivered the 2012 Heinz Distinguished Lecture, “Designing Tomorrow,” on Nov. 27 in the William Pitt Union ballroom. Anastas said that eco-friendly buildings do not just happen, but require planning and innovative thinking. The Heinz Distinguished Lectureship is supported by a gift from the Heinz Endowments for the establishment of a Green Construction and Sustainable Development Program in Pitt’s Swanson School of Engineering. The lecture is cosponsored Pitt’s Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation.
