Newsmakers: Brazil’s Tadeu Carneiro Visits Campus
On Dec. 5, Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg welcomed to the Pitt campus Tadeu Carneiro (KSGB ’98), CEO of Brazilian company CBBM, the major producer of the metal niobium, used in steel, superalloys, and superconducting magnets. Carneiro was to have been named a Pitt 2012 Legacy Laureate last October, but illness prevented him from traveling here then. He will be named a Laureate this Spring during an event to be held in Brazil. During their visit, the chancellor presented Carneiro with a Pitt 225 Anniversary Medallion in recognition of his accomplishments.
