Newsmakers: Whitman Book Signing
Marina von Neumann Whitman, former Distinguished Public Service Professor of Economics at Pitt and the first woman to serve on the Council of Economic Advisers under President Richard Nixon, chatted with friends and former colleagues during a Feb. 20 book-signing event for her memoir The Martian’s Daughter (University of Michigan Press, 2012). She delivered a presentation in Hillman Library’s Dick Thornburgh Room and was introduced by Thornburgh (LAW ’57), a longtime friend. Thornburgh is a Pitt trustee, former governor of Pennsylvania and U.S. attorney general, and currently of counsel to the international law firm K&L Gates LLP in its Washington, D.C., office.
