Pitt Hosts 2,800 International Students for Association Of College and University Residence Halls Conference
The University of Pittsburgh hosted the annual National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) international conference May 31-June 2. The event brought to the Pittsburgh campus about 2,800 students representing more than 400 schools from across the United States and other countries, including Canada, China, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
Students participated in more than 300 programs covering such topics as leadership, community building, diversity, and staff development. Whether they were participating in the Tree Pittsburgh philanthropy project or speaking with Pittsburgh professionals at the Career and Graduate School Expo, students were busy improving Pittsburgh and themselves the entire weekend.
“I congratulate our students on organizing such a dynamic conference that provided their peers from around the world an experience rich in programming, ideas, and leadership. The conference not only enhanced participants individually, but it will enhance life on their campuses and communities as well,” said Pitt Vice Provost and Dean of Students Kathy Humphrey.
Pitt’s Office of Residence Life staff worked two years to plan the annual conference.
