Even the dinosaurs are shivering as winter white covers Oakland. “Alphabetasaurus” rests in front of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral at the corner of Forbes Avenue and South Dithridge Street. The colorful creature is one of several hundred dinosaur statues that were created and placed all over Pittsburgh during the 2003 Dinomite Days, which raised money for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The Grable Foundation sponsored Alphabetasaurus, and the students and teachers at Pittsburgh’s Phillips Elementary School designed and painted the dinosaur’s lettered exterior (Photo by Emily O'Donnell)
